Patinas on copper and bronze clay

To follow on from yesterday, I’ve had another go with the salt and ammonia patina on copper and bronze. I like the effect on the round copper piece.

Apologies for the picture quality.

Liver of sulphur patina on bronze. The leaf piece split at the top when I flattened it after firing, but it had broken there when it was leather hard, and I’d mended it, so it was probably a weak spot.

The cracks show more with bronze clay, I read that, but found out for myself too.

These pieces started out all the same size, the copper piece on the left has shrunk a lot less than the same thickness bronze piece on the right , the bronze piece in the centre is thicker and has shrunk less.
