How precious metal lustre can give your ceramic jewellery a lift

copper ceramic pendantI had a couple of quite boring ceramic pendants, the glazes were ok but this one was a boring sort of olive tan colour, not pretty. So I decided to try a technique which I’ve blogged about before, and add some metallic lustres to the high spots. This one has copper lustre, it now looks really pretty, the photo doesn’t really do it justice.

platinum ceramic pendantThis one was a dull blue grey, it was ok but I felt I could give it more ‘life’  by adding some platinum lustre. I think it looks rather lovely .

If you would like to read more about the process have a look at my post Ceramic pendants, three years in the making you can see the different look on glazed and unglazed ceramics. This is a great way of giving a lift to a dull and boring piece.
