Wabi sabi inspiration

So what is wabi sabi you may be asking yourself, I know I did when I first stumbled across the term used to describe a verdigris copper cuff. It was one of those moments when you stumble upon a name that describes something you connect to but didn’t know there was a name to describe it.

Wabi sabi is a Japanese aesthetic principle based on transient beauty, a beauty that is imperfect, incomplete and impermanent

From childhood this kind of beauty in things has inspired me a lot, here are photo’s of  some of my Wabi sabi inspirations, I hope to add more in future.

Corrugated iron, I intend producing some ceramic jewellery inspired by these pictures but I also feel like painting these amazing textures, I love the subtle tones.
