Water, water……………

………..today’s inspiration…………

The good thing about being your own boss is no one telling you what to do, and when to do it. Everything gets done but I’m able to be flexible about when, an artist must follow their muse, right! Today is so warm and sunny so I decided to take a bit of time out and head off down the river.

Water seems to play a big part as my design inspiration, I seem to collect pictures of water, obviously having the river to hand makes this easy,  but if I was at the coast it would be the same story.

I’ve been here a year now I have followed the river Wharfe during all her moods. Today the river is as low as I’ve seen, but it’s tinkling and babbling, bubbling, and twinkling; and with warm sun on my face it’s all very spring like.

I’m particularly interested in seeing water in an abstract sense, have a look in the gallery below. Which one is your favourite?

Many of these look a lot like the glass you work up. Beautiful!

Beautiful inspiration! I’m thinking the same thing as Anna. I’m seeing this in glass work. I love 4,5 7 best, and 6 and all the others! Anxious to see what you do with it.

Yes they do inspire my glass work. I have bought a torch to start lamp working, all I need is a gas bottle and I will start experimenting.
I was pricing glass dishes for a gallery yesterday and having been down the river I could see those shapes in my glass even though it wasn’t a concious decision.
Also if you look at my post about high fire enamel on copper in ‘ technique a week’ you will see a watery influence there.

The pictures are captivating. They give me a message about your work which is inspired by nature– always moving, always different, always beautiful. Love it all!
